Schools

We serve four local primary schools.

Open the Book

Each school has an Open the Book team made of members from the local churches. We present stories from the Bible to the children during Collective Worship, it is a wonderful way of sharing and all the children enjoy being part of the action.

After school Open the Book clubs at Stanton and Hullavington meet to make props and rehearse the stories. In Sherston school we have a lunchtime club for KS1 children which supports our values led Collective Worship.

Church visits

Schools often come into church to celebrate important festivals such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter. Parents are also invited to share these services. In addition churches invite the schools for interactive days to discover more about festivals and other important times in the church year. Experience trails such as Experience Harvest and Experience Church are complimented by trails to deepen children’s understanding of The Lord’s Prayer, Remembrance and, this year our new trail, Advent.

Children can say confidently ‘This is my church’

Members of our congregations serve our schools in many ways. Foundation Governors support the work of our Church of England schools and help to develop church school distinctiveness.
