Station 4: before the Sanhedrin

In the dead of night, Jesus is illegally placed before the Jewish court, the priests are desperate to indict him. When questioned if he is the Messiah, Jesus replies, “I am”, and, “you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of power”, “coming with the clouds of heaven'. In these statements he claims his authority, he is the true mediator between us and God - as he said to Nathaniel, “you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man”.

Lord Jesus, you were the victim of religious bigotry,
facing the condemnation of fearful hearts,
be with those who experience this today,
and deepen the understanding of those
who cut themselves off from the experience of others.

Holy God,
holy and strong,
holy and immortal,
have mercy upon us.
