Station 7: before the crowd
A long night of being passed from authority to authority, dawn comes and the crowd that had cheered him into Jerusalem a few days ago have turned… Pilate offers them an opportunity to release Jesus, but they continue to cry “Crucify him, crucify him!” Jesus stands between the power of the authorities and the power of the mob - “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God”.

Lord Jesus, there are crowds who are still yet to understand you and your message of love.
We pray that you might reveal yourself to them, and that they may know your saving power.
Holy God,
holy and strong,
holy and immortal,
have mercy upon us.
